Better late than never – New Ramblings!

RAMBLINGS

Hello, hello,

My but don’t we all live these incredibly busy lives? I find it hard to fathom how quickly time slips by and I say this because it was just brought to my attention that my last update here was back in July. My apologies for being tardy, not that it matters much to anyone. The political and social climate in which we live seems to still be in much turmoil. It’s hard to know what to think of all the savagery, brutality, dishonesty, greed and mistrust which is going on all around us. Are we really in the 21st century or are we still stuck in the middle ages? I find it bewildering and choose to block out as much negativity as I can.

That being said the sun rises and sets to much fanfare each and every day and many of are blessed to be living the lives we’ve been given. Mother Nature is a wonder to behold and her majesty can be humbling. Tomorrow is Halloween, the old pagan observance that we’ve embraced with such enthusiasm. It’s a fun time for the children (of all ages!) and I look forward to it.

During the summer we were in the South of Ireland with our Tour group. We had truly wonderful traveling companions and the weather was spectacular, which fully enhanced the stunning beauty of the Emerald Isle.

In early September I joined the Norwegian Dawn for a month as she sailed from Boston to Quebec and back. Again I cannot describe in words how terrific the audiences were and I got to spend lots of time rehearsing, writing, reading and hanging out with my fellow entertainers, most notably Jose and Patti…we so enjoyed our laubsta lunches on Prince Edward Island, Bar Harbor and Halifax…and the famous pea soup served in Quebec City. I look forward to signing on to the Dawn again next week for the first seven days of her repositioning cruise from Boston to New Orleans.

Next summer we have three Tours to Ireland planned. The first is a customized private tour commissioned for the Friends of the Savannah Philharmonic. June 17 – 25, 2015.

The second is a Celtic Spirituality Tour with Fr. Liam and Mary Collins. Fr.Liam will take this trip with us as part of his 70th birthday celebration and this will be his last Tour. As with all of our Tours there will be music, laughter, camaraderie, and on this adventure we’ll enjoy the gentle wisdom of this gifted and talented man. We’ll also be in the beautiful town of Dingle for July 4th…what could be better? The Tour begins and ends at Shannon airport.     June 30 – July 7, 2015. $1,945.00 per person sharing.

Our O’Donoghue Ireland Tour begins and ends at Dublin airport. July 9 – July 16, 2015.   On this Tour we will travel from Kildare on the East coast over to Galway, Mayo and Sligo on the rugged West coast, and back again. $1,945.00 per person sharing.

All our Tours feature a full sightseeing itinerary, an easygoing pace, accommodation in finely appointed four star hotels, daily breakfast, tips, porterage, full dinner on all but one night and more. Please go to our O’Donoghue Tours page here on the website for more information, full itinerary and reservation forms.

The long awaited Terra Nova project is now available…hip hip!!  It took a long time to get the recordings cleaned up, transferred, and  re-mastered but it’s all done and Nissa Eames really raised the bar with the CD art work. The look is classic and the music stands up surprisingly well even though it’s been many years since the studio recordings.

Harry O’Donoghue with Terra Nova – The Recordings is available here on the website or at my live shows, at CD Baby and of course on most digital download outlets.

Earlier this year I recorded a short humour and toasts CD called, strangely enough, Ramblings. It’s 29 minutes long and is sold as a companion piece when a purchase of three CDs or more is made. This is my first attempt at a humorous recording and I’m pleased with the result. My thanks to Eric Nauert of Perpombellar Productions for his technical expertise and help on the project.

Carroll Brown and I will have our new Christmas CD Stillness in the Air available at the end of November in time for our Celtic Christmas Tour. It contains some never before heard Christmas songs, some originals and several Holiday standards such as Frosty the Snowman, Put your Hand in the Hand, Rockin’ Round the Christmas Tree and an Irish version of Silent Night. We will have them with us as we tour and will offer the new recording for fifteen dollars or five for fifty five. Our full Christmas touring schedule will be uploaded very soon, we’re still awaiting confirmation on times for some of the concerts.

The Green Island Radio Show now has a Facebook Page and a website. We’re fairly easy to find so please check us out sometime when you’re online. We stream live on Sunday and Wednesday evenings and the show is still being very well received.

CDs can be ordered and shipped directly from this website or you may contact me directly should you want something personalized for a Christmas gift. hodmusic@aol.com

If you have time please leave a message on my Facebook Page.

All the best for now,
