March 29, 2012

Hello and thanks for stopping by.

It’s hard to believe that April is almost here, time sure does clip along. These last couple of  months have been busy but most enjoyable. The Savannah and Beaufort Irish Festivals were quite successful, as was Tara Feis, and my concerts in Springfield, Macon, St. Simon’s Island and Columbus, Georgia and St. Petersburg, Cocoa Beach and St. Augustine, Florida were all well attended and delightful. Thank you to all who helped organize these events and of course to those of you who came to the shows.

Our two O’Donoghue Ireland Tours in July are sold out. We have lovely folks coming on both the Celtic Spirituality tour and the Enchanted Ireland tour and we look forward to the trips. I’ve been asked to customize a third Tour to Ireland in early August so I’ll spend a lot of time there this summer. It seems that people are fed up being fed up and have started to embrace live with renewed enthusiasm and energy. I’m hearing a whisper suggesting this year will be a big travel year. We only get one life, might as well make the best of it.

Joanie Madden of Cherish The Ladies invited me to perform on her Folk ‘N Irish Cruise in February 2013 and I’m very excited about it. It promises to be a fantastic time and if you decide to come along, mention my name when signing on. I copied and pasted the information Joanie sent. Here it is:

The Green Island Radio Show continues to be as popular as ever. Now in its 20th year, the show can be heard online at gpb.org on Saturdays at 9.00PM and Wednesdays at 11.00PM.

You may or may not be aware of the fact that I like and collect ball caps, of course, you may or may not care . . . but whenever I go on vacation the hunt is on for a nice cap. I have quite the collection and to that end I’ve re-ordered the O’Donoghue logo ball cap. They’re very nice . . . light material with inside mesh to suit the warm climate here, and the logo embroidered on the front. At the moment we have two colours…navy and tan. I did have a nice yellow colour a couple of years ago so I’ll probably get more of those…and one other colour…any suggestions?

It seems that Facebook offers more immediate news and I’ve been diligent in keeping my Page current. (www.facebook.com/odonoghuemusic – click “like” to have it show up when I post!) I will make the same effort here with these writings. When you’re on the website check out our Photos Page, Reviews Page, Video Page, Tours Page, Store Page, Calendar Page and of course our Guestbook, where you can leave some thoughts, suggestions and general comments. We love to hear from you. Barbara and Shannon do a terrific job with the website…thanks guys.

I am pleased to offer my congratulations to Butch and Grace Elmgren on the occasion of the birth of their twin boys. May I wish you all the happiness that family life brings.

On a sadder note, we lost a wonderful man last week…Bob Baden passed away at home in the Villages, Florida. He was a great supporter of Irish Culture and will be missed by many. God speed on your journey Bob.

That’s it for now. Enjoy the Spring…a time of renewal and beauty.

See you out there,

Harry O'Donoghue
