January 12, 2012

Hello,

We’re sailing forth into the new year and hopefully it will be a good one for all of us, even the Mayans who presumably will have a blast and then call it quits. The rest us may have to soldier on with life as we know it. Reflecting on 2011 it seems I had a great year…creatively if not financially. I panicked in the Spring due to lack of work, but I was emboldened to get back in the saddle and find new venues and events that would embrace what I do, and so the year 2012 looks like it’s gonna be a doozy.

On another bright note, people seem to have had enough of the talking heads suggesting that life sucks, if you’ll pardon the expression, and we have had more interest in our Ireland Tours this year than we’ve had in several years. We have two tours going in July. Please check the Tours Page here on the website for details and information…and to paraphrase one of our upcoming group “Come Hell or High Water, I’m going to Ireland this year

The last few months have been a whirlwind for me. Coming back from our Ireland Tour last August I went straight into rehearsal for the Norwegian Cruise performances and from there straight into rehearsals for our Celtic Christmas Tour and from there into rehearsals for the Holiday Pops concert with the Savannah Philharmonic and then fourteen nights at Kevin Barry’s in Savannah. I can’t begin to thank all who helped, encouraged and supported in all of these events so I’ll just give a general THANK YOU to everybody.

I will NOT be performing on the Irish Cruise on January 29, with The Wolfe Tones, Seamus Kennedy, Mairtin De Cogain and others. Due to lackluster sales, my contract was cancelled this morning, Jan 12. If you purchased and plan to be on the cruise because of me please accept my apologies and take it up on board with Debra Casey, the Tour Director.

Again on the bright side, my wife and I are off to Miami in the morning, to avail ourselves of the services and joys of a cruise down to St. Kitts, St. Maarten and San Juan…oh, how my excitement grows. Will drink at least one pina colada for us…all of us….time to take back our lives, one at a time…I’ll start with me.

As I enter my 31st year in the music business I’m startled at how successful the journey has been…and to boot, the Green Island Radio Show will be 20 years old in November…who knew?

My mission, should I accept it, is to finish this writing, get a decent night’s sleep, drive to Miami, board a ship and read, sunbathe, hike a rainforest, eat like there’s no tomorrow, listen to some fine entertainment…and come back refreshed, renewed and less cynical than before…I’ll give it my best shot.

Thanks for all of your support and may God Bless all of us.
