RAMBLINGS

Hello and thanks for stopping by,

Can you believe it’s already October and we’re moving headlong into Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas? Time sure does creep up on you.

I arrived back in Savannah last week from a very successful contract with Norwegian Cruise Line. I was a Guest Entertainer for a month on the Norwegian Dawn as she made her way from Boston to Quebec and back…twice. Got to hang with some unbelievable entertainers…comedians Tim Kaminski, Rick Starr and Noodles Levenstein, juggler Scotty Cavanaugh, magician Matt Marcy, ventriloquist Michael Ziegfeld, Soprano Jennifer Fair, Arial gymnasts Alexi and Sally, the cast of Second City, the Norwegian Production cast, Celtic Umbrella, and musicians Jose and Patti…quite an assortment of entertainment, everything bar the elephant!! Everyone made me feel very welcome and I was accepted as part of the ‘Dawn family’ while I was on board. The audiences were terrific and my thanks go out to Sue Carper for the invitation to work with NCL for this, my twelfth year.

I sat in for Frank Emerson last weekend in Kevin Barry’s, Savannah and will do so again on the week of November 4th-10th. Frank had a minor medical procedure and I wish him speedy recovery and hope he’s back on stage soon.

We have two O’Donoghue Tours going abroad in 2014.

The first is a first for us…Harry O’Donoghue’s Tour to Italy. That’s Italy in April, a beautiful time to visit a beautiful country. The Tour begins in Venice on April 25th and ends in Rome on May 2nd, 2014. We will enjoy Venice, Florence, Sienna , Assisi and Rome, The Eternal City. We’ve chosen lovely hotels and we will enjoy walking tours of these splendid cities. We’ll visit historic Piazzas, travel through the enchanting Italian countryside, explore legendary ruins and monuments and enjoy the ambiance that can only be found in Italy. For full Tour description and itinerary please go to our Tours Page here on the website or contact me via phone, email, surface mail, or Facebook.

Our annual Tour to Ireland begins at Shannon airport on July 23rd and ends at Shannon airport on July 30th 2014. This year we will visit Ireland’s beautiful Southwest, from the rugged Dingle Peninsula in County Kerry to the Tipperary and Limerick countryside and to Cobh in County Cork. Along the way we’ll visit the towns of Killarney, Tralee, and Cork City and we’ll stay in Adare, the prettiest village in Ireland.  Again we have chosen well-appointed hotels and the Tour will be well paced with a full sightseeing itinerary and ample personal time. Owen Mohan has agreed to be our driver/guide once again and we have included a medieval banquet, complete with period entertainment in Knappogue, County Clare.

Our Tours Page has the full itinerary and other relevant information but if you have questions please feel free to contact me on any of the above mentioned forums.

I am delighted to have been invited by Maestro Peter Shannon to perform at the annual Holiday Pops concert with the Savannah Philharmonic in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah on December 13th and 14th. It is a thrilling event and not to be missed if possible.

Carroll Brown and I will be out on our annual Celtic Christmas Tour in December also. We are scheduled to perform in Hartwell, GA, Atlanta, GA, Beaufort, SC, Kevin Barry’s,Savannah,GA and at the Villages in Florida. This will be a short concert series comprising of five or six shows.

I hear a voice stirring from within suggesting that it’s time to begin another recording project. I have already begun preliminary discussions with Gabriel Donohue and hope to get moving on it in the New Year.

Speaking of recordings, Carroll Brown has a brand new release on CD. It’s all Irish music and I wish him tremendous success with the project. It’s available on his website or at his live shows.

In February 2nd, 2014 I sail away from Miami on the Norwegian Epic with Joanie Madden’s Folk ‘n Irish Cruise. She has a fantastic line up again, which includes; Cherish the Ladies, Gabriel Donohue, The Ennis Sisters, Cathie Ryan, Tommy Sands, Matt Molloy, the Makem and Spain Brothers, Danny Quinn, Sharon Shannon and many more. We will visit Ocho Rios, Costa Maya and Cozumel. To book a cabin or for more information please call 1-855-474-7427 or go to www.joaniemaddencruise.com

I’m still working on the Terra Nova project and it’s getting close. We have re-mastered the two LP’s and just have a wee bit more tweaking before we start on the artwork.

My friend and graphic artist Nissa Eames had a new addition to her family recently as did my cousin Honor…congratulations!!

That’s it for now. Please leave a comment on our Guestbook Page if you have time or say hello on Facebook.

Be safe out there,

Harry O'Donoghue
